Privacy

WordIsle has no accounts and no server-side storage. Your profile, every word state, streak and heatmap entry lives in your browser’s localStorage on your device. Clearing site data erases it permanently; we keep no copy. The backup feature exists precisely for this — export a JSON file and it restores anywhere.

Exactly what is stored locally

wy:profile — your wordbook choice, daily-new setting, per-word FSRS states, streak and 90-day history.
wy:q.<book>.<date> — today’s finished study groups.
wy:book-cache.<book> — a cached copy of the wordbook data so repeat visits load instantly.

Content provenance

Word data comes from the open Word Atlas project (CC BY 4.0). Definitions and example sentences in that dataset were AI-generated and may contain errors — they are provided for study reference.

Third parties

The site loads Google Analytics (with IP anonymization) for anonymous traffic counts. It sees ordinary page visits — never anything about your study. If you block analytics, every feature works exactly the same.
